Please know we’re about to make the St. David Cottage available FOR SMALL GROUPS beginning in the month of August.
It’s a beautiful place, suitable for wedding parties to prepare for their wedding Sacramental marriage especially. Brown Bag Bunch will enjoy their Mondays there and card players, etc. Again, it is for small groups as it’s a small space.
I also ask people to be careful of the furniture in there. It goes without saying it’s Church property and should be treated as such. Some small classes such as Natural Family Planning may be held in the small classroom there too.
We’re in the process of putting in a lawn watering system and new grass to be planted. The back yard will be a nice little haven for prayer and reflection as a beautiful sitting statue of St. Francis has been donated for that area. There is also a guest bed room for our visiting clergy. In the past, we’ve not been able to offer much hospitality to Friars and priests visiting. This will help address that, thanks be to God.
We’re coming up with the ever present rules for the place; do’s and don’ts. It’s a small gathering place for adults only. We’ve many other areas for children and teens to gather. This is for more formal and informal small groups.
All has been made possible through the bequest of David Webb, God rest his soul. Please keep him in your prayers, as well as Gladys Doskacil who raised a wonderful family in that house and lived and died under its roof. I believe her gracious spirit is hovering about the place, in that one can feel a certain peace and even joy in the Cottage environment.
God is good to us here and HE blesses us via such gifts to our Church Community of St. Maria’s.
Stay tuned for more news of about St. David Cottage; that little white house on the south corner of the Church property. It’s a glorious acquisition to our beautiful Church campus.
God bless and much love!
Fr. Jim, Pastor
081015 - Update - Last week sod was laid in the back yard and large rocks have been placed between the parish and St. David Cottage driveway. The metal railing and fence were removed to give a more open clean look. The rocks serve as a barrier to anyone potentially backing over the curb.
