St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, under the direction of the Catholic Diocese of Fort Worth, is fully committed to ensuring the safety of all our children and vulnerable adults. To achieve that goal, Bishop Michael Olson, requires that each person who serves the Church, or any of the organizations in the Church in any capacity, be certified in a Safe Environment program provided by the Diocese. The purpose of the program is to help the people of the church become the eyes and ears of the community, safe from any form of abuse. Therefore, all employees and volunteers must register and attend a Safe Environment Awareness Session, have a current background check on file, and have a current and complete volunteer file in the Parish Office. A complete volunteer fileconsists of 3 forms which areavailable to print on the left-hand side of this page.

Here is a list of our upcoming Safe Environment courses:
"Empowering God’s Children" Training Session (Children and Youth)
The "Empowering God’s Children" Program is for children and youth, PreK through grade 12, to teach them about boundaries, how to recognize boundary violations, how to respond to persons who violate their boundaries, and how to report such violations to parents, family members, and other trusted adults. The "Empowering God’s Children" sessions are taught in the Catholic schools, in parish religious education classes, and in youth ministry sessions. "Empowering God’s Children" is a prerequisite to applying for "Teen Leader Training." Teen Leader Training Session (Youth Ages 14 - 17)
This workshop prepares youth ages 13-18 who wish to volunteer with their peers and/or with children. Note: all Teen Leaders must take “Empowering God’s Children” before taking Teen Leader Training. Children and Youth who volunteer are supervised in any service they provide. Parish Youth Ministers or DREs have information available on Teen Leader Training and required forms. Teen Leader Training is renewed every three (3) years and remains in effect through the summer following an individual's graduation from high school.
