Patrick Malloy, a parishioner, SMG school alumni and Boy Scout with Troop 615 here at SMG is working towards becoming an Eagle Scout. One of the requirements for Eagle Scout is to plan and carry out a service project that will benefit the community, school, or church.
His Eagle Scout project is a pavilion to be used as an outdoor classroom for the SMG School and by the parish as an outdoor meeting space for other groups/events.
The pavilion will be approximately 16 x 24 feet, with a 10 foot height, metal roof and the floor will concrete. Everything inside will be moveable to make it versatile for use in Kountry Karnival, SMG Fun Run, etc…
Licensed contractors will be hired for some of the project, but Boy Scouts and volunteers will construct the needed tables, benches, etc… for classroom use, and do miscellaneous labor to keep costs down.
He needs your help to make this happen. Patrick will be in the Cafetorium after all Masses this weekend if you would like to stop by, get more information and make a donation. You may also write a check to SMG School, give it to the school secretary (also his mom and treasurer for the project). No donation is too small and he would appreciate your support.
