The practice of requesting a Mass to be offered for our loved ones, living or deceased, is a beautiful and meaningful part of our Catholic tradition. In our Parish, we receive many requests for scheduling such intentions, and we want to accommodate as many people as possible. Unfortunately, there are not enough Masses to meet this need.
For 2025 Intentions, we ran out of Masses on January 10th this year!
Moving forward, the following guidelines will be implemented to ensure a balanced opportunity for everyone here at SMG to obtain a Mass Intention:
The 2026 Mass Intention Book will be open for a 6-month period beginning on July 1, 2025, for Mass Intentions dated from January 1, 2026 – June 30, 2026.
The second 6-month period of 2026, the Mass Intentions Book will be open on January 2, 2026, for Mass Intentions dated from July 1, 2026 – December 31, 2026.
A Mass Intention may be requested for the following: a person who is living or deceased; living or deceased members of a particular family.
Quantity: A parishioner may request only 5 Mass Intentions within a 6-month time period, and a person or family may only be listed 5 times within those 6 months. In other words: No matter who buys the Mass Intention, the name of a person or family will only be mentioned in the Mass Intentions five times in 6 months.
For those parishioners who have already purchased 2026 Mass Intentions last year: your Masses will be honored, but please know if you or anyone else has purchased 10 intentions for the same loved one already in the complete 2026 calendar year, no additional Masses can be purchased for that loved one in 2026.
Mass Intentions will be honored on a first-come, first-served basis, in the order in which the request is received. Requests for Mass Intentions may be requested in person at the Parish Office or by mail. No intentions will be accepted over the phone.
More information is forthcoming. We thank you for your patience and understanding.
