The Theme: Christ our Rock – A Lenten Retreat
Many of us have heard the old hymn, "Rock of Ages!" It is a praise of a faith that is lasting and steady. Where do we find this faith? We can find it within ourselves! We are all baptized and confirmed into that one spiritual rock which is Christ. St. Paul will speak of it in the second scripture on the weekend of the 3rd Sunday of Lent as we begin our parish mission. We may have lived this faith for a long time without realizing that it is our status as baptized persons and that identifies us with Christ. It is not a past event, but a present force.
Come to the celebration of the parish mission on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, March 4, 5, and 6 and learn of the challenges that our baptism presents and how we are truly "commissioned" as disciples.
The Preacher/Missioner is Father R. B. Williams, O.P., who preaches parish missions and retreats all over the United States. He is originally from Louisiana and is based at Holy Rosary Priory in Houston, Texas where he serves as the prior of the community when not "on the road."
The first night will help us recover and embrace the reality of our baptism and confirmation. A dessert reception will follow the first evening of the Parish Mission giving you an opportunity to meet Fr. R.B. Williams, O.P. The second night will offer us ways of knowing how to live our baptismal commitment. The third night will present us with the toughest Christian challenge - forgiveness. The mission will include Reconciliattion on Wednedsay evening (our usual First Wednesda Reconciliation)
All of this comes from Christ, our Rock.
If your organization or group has a meeting this week, please make plans to cancel and come to the Parish Mission!
