Catholic Charities will be holding an Energy Aid Blitz event on Thursday, July 28th at their Arlington office located at 1721 Pioneer Parkway. Catholic Charities staff will be available from 1:00 to 5:00 pm to assist low income individuals and families with paying their TXU energy bill.
Two additional dates in August are anticipated and forthcoming.
Here are some specifics on the program:
Families must have TXU as their energy provider
Household income must be below 200% of the Federal Poverty Limit (for example, a family of two must earn less than $2,452/month or a family of four can earn up to $3,725/month)
Household must have experienced a financial crisis in the past 12 months. (major car repairs, job lay-off, medical/funeral expenses, etc.)
Assistance is only for usage - per TXU guidelines we are only able to pay fees such as late fees, disconnect fees, etc.
Individuals must bring a picture ID and a copy of their TXU bill or TXU disconnection notice
With the temperatures as hot as they have been, we know that there are many people struggling to pay their electric bills.
