Confirmation is a gift of the Church. Every baptized person can and should receive it. Preparation to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation is 6 months in length and begins with a mandatory information meeting in December. Per Diocesan policy, adolescents 15 years old or older may request to prepare for Confirmation (Diocesan Guidelines on the Sacrament of Confirmation, pg 10).
Youth planning to prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation in 2017 are encouraged to attend Rise this fall.
You may register for Confirmation preparation here: http://smgparish.org/ym-registration.
A mandatory Confirmation parent meeting will be held
Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at 6:30 pm in the Cafetorium.
Confirmation, like Baptism and the Eucharist, is one of the three sacraments of initiation of the Catholic Church. As the Holy Spirit descended upon the disciples who were gathered on Pentecost, so the Holy Spirit comes to every baptized person for whom the Church requests the gift of the Holy Spirit. It secures and strengthens him to be a living witness to Christ.
