What information do I need to know before scheduling my child's Baptism?
For Baptism in the Catholic faith, there a few important details to know: +At least one parent or legal guardian must be Catholic and request the Baptism of the child. +A godparent, together with the parent(s), presents a child for Baptism. Parents must choose one Godparent, or may choose two; if two Godparents are chosen, one must be male and the other female. There are a few things we need BEFORE scheduling a baptism at SMG: 1-Baptism Registration Form - Completed by the parent(s)/legal guardian requesting the Baptism; 2-Godparent Information Form - Completed by the Godparent(s). A 'Letter of Good Standing' for Godparents who are not members of SMG, will be required from the pastor of the parish where they are registered. 3-Baptism Preparation Session - Catholic parents must attend a baptismal preparation session. If a parent has attended this class at SMG within 5 years, it is not required again. We also accept Baptismal Preparation Certificates issued by any other Catholic Parish.

**If you're taking Baptism Prep at SMG in order to be a Godparent at a Baptism held at another Parish, the Parish hosting the Baptism may require a 'Letter of Good Standing' in addition to the Baptism Prep Attendance Certificate. A 'Letter of Good Standing' should come from the Parish you are registered and attend Mass at. If you aren't a registered parishioner at SMG, we can not issue you a 'Letter of Good Standing' just because you attended the Baptism Prep session with us.
