‘Choro di pace’ (Choir of Peace) is a group of mixed voices (men and women, high school through senior citizen, students, career professionals and domestic engineers) who gather to assist in leading the music for the 9AM Mass on Sundays at St. Maria Goretti. They also serve in their ministry for special celebrations throughout the year.
This group has been a tradition at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church for over 70 years. They have participated in the 50th Anniversary of the Diocese of Fort Worth, The Jubilee Anniversary of St. Maria Goretti, Diocesan Diaconate Ordinations, Ordinations to the Priesthood, First Mass Celebrations for newly ordained deacons and priests, University of Texas Music Festivals with Paul Salamunovich (2013), the opening event for the Fort Worth Chapter of the American Guild of Organists (2010), performed at Carnegie Hall, New York (2006) and St. Teresa’s Parish Visit, Austin (2003).
The beauty of the Mass Celebration, the music, fellowship, praise and prayers we share enrich the lives of all its members, from youth to maturity, and brings us closer to the desire for full, active, conscious and fruitful participation in our faith, its rituals and its traditions. While we are not professional musicians, we work to present ourselves as authentically and as passionately as we can through professional leadership and, more importantly, through a commitment to excellence in presenting and upholding the rich heritage of Catholic Church music as well as leadership that inspires others to participate in singing during Mass.
Come join us for this exciting season!
